Feeding Made Simple

Feeding your reptile doesn’t have to feel stressful. We hear it all the time: “I put the insects in, but my pet just stares at them.” The truth is, reptiles are a little picky by nature, and sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.
One thing we’ve noticed over the years is how much the activity of your feeders matters. A lively cricket or an energetic superworm can get your reptile moving and hunting, while a sluggish insect might be ignored completely. That tiny bit of movement is what sparks their natural instincts and suddenly feeding time becomes a little adventure.
Here are some tips we share with keepers to make feeding easier and more fun:
- Pick active feeders. Movement matters more than size. Your reptile will usually respond faster to lively crickets or superworms.
- Check the size. Too big can be intimidating, too small might not seem worth the effort. Watch your pet and adjust as needed—it’s amazing how much difference a small change makes.
- Mix it up. Variety keeps meals exciting. Rotate between mealworms, superworms, crickets, or flightless fruit flies for smaller reptiles.
- Add a little boost. Sprinkling in Calcium+ or Beta-Carotene helps keep your pet healthy and energetic; without extra effort.
- Keep a routine. Feeding around the same time every day helps your reptile know what to expect, and they usually respond better when they’re ready and alert.
Over time, these simple habits make a noticeable difference. Feeding stops feeling like a chore and becomes a moment you both look forward to. You’ll start noticing your pet’s energy, appetite, and even personality shining through at mealtime.
