Care Instructions

Keep your fruit flies at room temperature (24–28 °C) in the cup provided. Avoid direct sunlight and store them in a well-ventilated area. Replace cultures every 2–3 weeks to maintain a healthy population. If the culture starts to dry out, lightly mist the sides of the container to restore humidity.

Melanogaster Fruit Flies are the smaller of the two flightless fruit fly species (~2mm), making them perfect for tiny pets such as dart frogs, baby geckos, mantises, and small fish. They are soft-bodied, easy to digest, and full of nutrients – rich in protein, healthy fats, and Vitamins A, B, and E. Our Melanogaster flies are flightless, they crawl or hop, making them easy to handle without mess. Their fast reproduction cycle ensures constant reliable feeder supply for small insectivores. Their maturity period lasts approximately 10 – 12 days.

Locally-bred in NParks-licensed insect farm.
